A Brief History

In March of 2019, our founder, the SOL, recently inspired by micronations such as Molossia and the Principality of Hutt River, began the early development of our nation. The SOL, who had always thought of himself as a leader of his own nation, recently learning of the world of Micronations, saw this as an opportunity to truly create his fantasy. On March 17, 2019, the SOL  officially established the Grand Order of DR, or as it was originally named at the time, "DR". The official document of the nation's establishment, which was handwritten due to equipment limitations of the time, was signed the day after, on March 18, 2019. Over time, the SOL developed the nation, ultimately reforming the nation until it became what it is today. Of course, the SOL is not done with his grand plan, but the nation has certainly come a long way. 

Brief overview of MAJOR events:

• Establishment: March 17, 2019

• Flag and name change: Early 2020

• In early 2020, the GODR created a draft design for a currency, known as the "GODR Contanti". However, the currency was never truly produced, save for a a single sheet of the new currency, which had many printing errors and mistakes. These misprinted Contanti bills were saved for future use in a museum. 

• GODR begins COVID-19 restrictions, ends all restrictions just months later: March 2020 - August 2020

• First GODR establishment anniversary celebrations canceled due to COVID-19: March 17, 2020

•  Extreme smoke conditions from nearby wildfires cause low visibility and toxic air: Summer 2020

• Snowstorm brings down many trees and knocks out electricity to all of the GODR, generators put into use: Winter 2021

• Two wildfires, both at different times, force the GODR into evacuations: Summer 2021 

• GODR reopens diplomacy, recognizing Sohnland and Adonia: Fall 2021

• GODR receives its first physical flag: November 3rd, 2021

• GODR announces it entered a new era of  open diplomacy, January 2022

• The first annual Agriculture Appreciation Day is celebrated in the GODR, February 20, 2022

• The GODR officially announces the end of GODR recognition of Adonia due to their dissolution, September 15, 2022

• The GODR officially withdraws from the UMEC micronational organization after being a member since 2020, September 15, 2022
